Four in Four Including The 4444 Ahead For Bill Mooney Racing

It looked like Bill Mooney, driver of the No. 2 Toyota Millar powered Rocket was going to follow his victory up with two top five finishes, but lapped traffic would haunt him during the latter laps of both features he ran last week.

Bill’s week of racing started on Thursday night at the Red River Co-Op Speedway just south of Winnipeg. He started fourth in his heat race and finished 3rd putting him in the redraw for the feature. His point average handed him the 7th starting spot for the main event. Before one lap was completed Bill had charged past 3 cars, into the 4th spot. He would lose one spot on lap three and one on lap four, falling back to sixth. He gained both spots back on lap five...

After a fourth place finish on Thursday and a ninth place finish on Friday, Bill Mooney parked the No. 2 Toyota Millar powered Rocket in victory lane Saturday night during the NLRA series stop at the Devils Lake Speedway near Doyon, ND.

A Tough Week for Bill Mooney Racing

Two DNF’s, and two top 15 finishes sums up last weeks’ action, while there are three more races scheduled this week for Bill Mooney, and his No. 2 Millar powered Rocket.

Racing started last Thursday as the NLRA season schedule resumed at the Norman County Raceway in Ada, MN. When the 2 car was unloaded it had brand new sheet metal covering the race car. In Bill’s heat race the brand new sheet metal would fail to go a full lap without being crinkled, as Bill became collected in a first lap pile-up. Bill survived the melee and finished second in the heat, and drew the fifth starting spot for the main event. Bill was running solidly in the top ten when the car started starving for fuel, and eventually shut off...

Four Races in Four Nights Ahead For Bill Mooney Racing

After some bad luck, and another top five, Bill Mooney, driver of the No. 2 Millar Powered Rocket, looks forward to four straight nights of racing this week.

First on Thursday night, Bill was racing at the Red River Co-Op Speedway’s 40th anniversary race. After finishing second in his heat race, he would start third in the main event. Unfortunately Bill would pull off the race track on lap seven with fuel system problems, for only his second DNF of the 2013 season.

Friday night at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, the fuel system problem continued during hot laps, but Bill found, and rectified the issue, so he could finish second in the heat after starting sixth. Bill started seventh in the feature, and once again persevered with a late charge to the front...
