Bill Mooney Racing Recap: River Cities and Viking Speedway

Three races in three nights including the NLRA Memorial Day doubleheader at the Viking Speedway in Alexandria, MN. After the opener at the Red River co-op Speedway in Winnipeg was cancelled, the weekend started at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND. Bill drew the second spot for his heat race and took the lead from Dusty Peterson early, collecting a heat race victory. The win would give Bill the fourth starting spot in the main event. Bill slipped back to sixth early in the main event, but charged back to fifth by lap twelve of the feature. Bill passed Zach Naastad and Steve Anderson on lap thirteen to move to third and set his sights on Mike Balcaen for second. Balcaen lost a motor soon after, moving Bill up to the second spot...

Bill Mooney Racing Recap: Season Opener At River Cities

After a long off season, made longer by nearly a month of rain outs and cancellations, the season finally got underway last Friday night May the 16th at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND. Bill drew the 6th spot for his heat race but cold weather and rain earlier in the week, along with a late thaw caused conditions to be rough and hammer-down. Bill was only able to pass one car to finish 5th. Conditions didn’t improve much as the night progressed as Bill started tenth and finished ninth in the main event after breaking the rear axle early on the rough racing surface. Of the 16 cars in attendance, Bill was one of ten cars that was unable to complete the feature.
