After another rain-out at the Red River Co-Op Speedway, Bill Mooney driver of the No. 2 McPhillips Toyota OMG Candy Millar Powered MasterSbuilt by JMR, began the week at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, and collected a second place finish in just his second night in his new mount.

It has become commonplace for a poor draw to bury Bill deep in the heat race, and last Friday night would prove no different, as Bill would start dead last in his heat race. Bill began the heat by passing Bryce Beck and Jeff McDonald before one lap was completed, and set his sights on Cole Schill for fifth. He passed Schill on the third lap, and then Shane Edginton became his next victim on lap five. Finally on lap six he had caught John Buchner and James SanGrait who were running second and third respectively, when Bill split the pair and passed them both coming out of turn two on the next to last lap. By then Joey Pederson had too commanding a lead for Bill to make-up, but a second place finish, couple with the 14th place finish the previous week gave Bill a front row starting spot for the main event.

Bill started on the outside of the front row next to three-time and defending Wissota national champion Ricky Weiss when the green flag flew. Bill won the drag race to turn one and lead the first eleven laps of the main event, running the high side of the race track. On lap twelve Bill and Weiss approached lapped traffic and Bill had to abandon the high line and run the low groove to put the lappers behind him. It was then when Weiss took advantage and took the lead, and lead the rest of the race. Bill would finish a strong second, beating the likes of former World of Outlaw series regular Pat Doar, multiple time River Cities Champion Joey Pederson, and defending River Cities and NLRA champion Brad Seng to the finish, made even more impressive considering it was only his second night in the new MasterSbilt, built by Jay McDonald Racing.

This week, Bill will run a pair of races, first on Thursday night at the Red River Co-Op Speedway in Winnipeg, then again on Friday night at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks.
