Bill Mooney Racing Preview – Return To The Track (Take Two)

This week, Bill Mooney, driver of the No. 2 Maaco Auto Painting Millar powered MasterSbilt by JMR, will return to the track after nearly two weeks away due to his most recent roll over.

It’s been nearly two weeks since Bill suffered his second roll over of the 2018 season, when he rolled off the top of turns three and four at the Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, MN.

With the help of fellow competitors and a hard working crew, Bill was able to return to the track that very night, and pick up the hard charger award, finishing sixth after starting 15th.

Upon further inspection when Bill returned to his shop, the car was too damaged to return to competition without a complete rebuild.

Bill and his Father Pat, along with Jamie Beatty, have been working, during whatever spare time they’ve had to spare, to put the car back together.

Barring the unforeseen, Bill will return to the track this Thursday night in time for the fifth annual Can-Am Late Model Challenge at the Red River Co-op Speedway in Winnipeg.

Bill had a strong run in his last appearance before the wreck in Greenbush at the Red River Co-op Speedway.
Bill was still learning the ins and outs of this car, when a top five went away late when a yoke broke, but he was able to drift across the line to a ninth place finish.

Bill scored his first hard charger award of the week two weeks ago at the River Cities, when he finished sixth after starting 13th.

This week, after the Can-Am Challenge, Bill will return to River Cities for the NLRA show that shares the spotlight with the World of Outlaws. Bill won this event in 2015, scoring the NLRA win in front of the packed house at River Cities.

Should the weekend go well, Bill will continue to follow the NLRA down to the Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, ND, for another NLRA show that will co-headline with the World of Outlaws.

Bill’s last appearance at the Red River Valley Speedway was a good one, as he bounced back from a bad heat race to win the B-Main, and score another hard charger award. He finished ninth after starting 17th on the sun baked three-eighths mile oval.

The series will complete their four race stretch at the Sheyenne Speedway in Lisbon, ND, on Sunday night.

Stat Attack:

Bill has two podiums, six top fives, and eleven top tens, in twelve nights of racing this season.

What’s Ahead:

It’s a ‘River’ theme this week, as Bill will start the week at the Red River Co-op Speedway in Winnipeg, continue on to the River Cities Speedway on Friday, travel further south to the Red River Valley Speedway on Saturday, before wrapping things up at the Sheyenne (River) Speedway in Lisbon, ND, on Sunday.
