After a shake down of the new car last week, Bill Mooney, driver of the No. 2 Travel Manitoba Miller Powered MasterSbilt by JMR, will look to start the second half of the season strong tonight at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks.

A week ago Thursday, Bill and his crew finished the new version of the 2 car just before midnight. He decided to bring the car to Grand Forks and race it with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series before going on holiday for a week.

“Frankenstein,” as the car has been named, was 18th quick in time trials and sixth in the heat race. Bill had chances at passes of Shane Edginton and Jordan Yaggy during the course of the race to run fourth, as the new car felt and reacted well, despite a small vibration during hot laps.

Bill will head into tonight at River Cities having scored three top fives, and four top tens, in five shows so far this year at the quarter-mile bullring.

Bill is also just fifteen markers back of Edginton to move back into the top ten in the standings at the speedway, despite having missed a week due to the rollover on June 29th.

Bill is fifth in the NLRA standings, as that series will return to action a week from Saturday at the Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, MN, on July 28th.

Stat Attack:

Bill has two podiums, five top fives, and seven top tens, in eight nights of racing this season.

What’s Ahead:

Friday night, a return to weekly competition at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, for the first time since the rollover on June 29th.
