After two weeks away from the track, Bill Mooney, driver of the No. 2 OMG Candy Millar Powered MasterSbilt by JMR, is scheduled to take to the track three more times at the Red River Co-Op Speedway.

This Saturday night, the Red River Co-Op Speedway season continues it’s regularly scheduled race program, including Late Models for the first time since September 1st. At that race, Bill had the car to beat, as he dominated the 20 lap event for 17 laps. Lapped traffic cost the driver of the 2 car a win, however, as Dustin Strand slipped by, setting up another one-two finish for the pair. Bill ran a race best 18-and-a-half second lap, at 125 km/h.

Bill and Strand, the soon-to-be Wissota national Late Model champion, finished first and second seven times since Bill debuted his new car on July 8, including four times in NLRA competition, twice at River Cities in weekly action, along with the September first result at RRCS.

In the last few weeks before the break, Bill set the fastest lap of the night three times. At the Devils Lake Speedway in NLRA competition on August 20, Bill put down a lap of 13.706 seconds, at nearly 140 km/h. Bill set the mark at River Cities on August 12th and September 2nd. The 2 car set a pair of laps at twelve-and-a-half seconds, at nearly 140 km/h also.

Bill also had a successful Seitz Memorial weekend, passing ten cars to finish second at the ‘Prelude to the Johnny’ then qualifying for the big show on Saturday night for the fifth time in his career. Bill passed six more cars, and was running with an undamaged race car as the checkered flag flew for the first time.

He also scored two pole positions in NLRA action, lead 17 laps, won four hard charger awards, scored four podium finishes, and secured two heat race wins. Bill passed 34 cars total to win the hard charger awards. Also, in the 25 races that Bill has finished so far this season, he has passed a total of 58 cars.

Despite missing three weeks after losing his old car in a wreck on June 17th at River Cities, Bill finished eleventh in the NLRA standings, and is currently hovering around the 20th spot in the Wissota national standings.

The next three races at the Red River Co-Op Speedway could be special, as well. With nearly every other track being closed for the season, some big names have already been rumored to use these races at RRCS to help bolster their standing in the Wissota national points.

2016 Stat Attack:

Bill has two wins, ten podiums, 14 top fives, and 23 top tens in 30 nights of racing this season.

What’s on Tap:

Three more races appear on the schedule for the 2016 season, beginning this Saturday September 24th, and continuing on Friday September 30th, and Saturday October 1st, all at the Red River Co-Op Speedway in Winnipeg.
