Last week was another solid week as Bill Mooney, driver of the No. 2 Erickson Motors Millar powered MasterSbilt by JMR, scored two more top five finishes.

Thursday night at the Red River Co-Op Speedway, Bill finished third in his heat race, slating him sixth for the feature. Bill lost a position in each of the first two circuits, settling into seventh, continuing on in that spot until the halfway point when a caution flag flew for Shane Holden.

Bill followed closely behind Dustin Strand, Kevin Sexton, and Rick Fawcett on the restart, eventually passing Fawcett down the backstretch with nine laps left. Bill then chased down and passed early leader Shane Edginton for fifth with five to go, ending up with the final spot inside the top five at the races conclusion.

After getting rained out at the River Cities Speedway on Friday, Bill and the Northern Late Model Racing Association visited the Devils Lake Speedway for the first time this season. Bill finished second in the heat raced, then redrew the eighth starting spot for the feature.

Bill wasted little time moving forward in the main event, passing Kevin Robertson and Aaron Turnbull before one lap was in the books. Bill then proceeded to move past Mike Balcaen on the second round.

After a caution with three laps complete, Bill used the high line to go three-wide with Dustin Strand and Robert Hellebust. Bill was unable to move forward at that point, going side-by-side with Cole Schill for position in the next handful of circuits.

Once that battle played itself out, Bill made it past Hellebust in lapped traffic in the waining moments of the event, securing a fourth place finish.

Bill heads into the final week of July second in the points at the Red River Co-op Speedway, just five markers back of Mike Balcaen for the top spot. He’s also fifth at the River Cities Speedway, third with the NLRA, and 13th in the WISSOTA national standings.

Stat Attack:

Bill has three wins, 14 top fives, and 16 top tens, in 18 events this season.

What’s on Tap:

This week, Bill races again on Thursday night at the Red River Co-Op Speedway, then south for another trip to the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks on Friday.
