Bill Mooney Racing Recap – Fresh Start For The Stretch Run

After a week away from the cockpit of the No. 2 McPhillips Toyota/OMG Candy Millar Powered MasterSbilt by JMR, Bill Mooney will continue his season as the point leader at the Red River Co-Op Speedway by one point over Mike Balcaen.

Highlites of Bill’s season thus far include a runner up finish after leading eleven laps on May 22nd at River Cities, in only his second night in the new car. That finish started a streak of top five finishes that lasted all the way until June 18th. The win on June 11th at the Red River Co-Op Speedway in Winnipeg, winning by three seconds over Ricky Weiss. Another win at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks on July 3rd, where he won by two seconds over Dustin Strand, and lapped up to eighth place. Bill has won four hard charger awards with the Northern Late Model Racing Association this season, the first coming on June 19th at River Cities, with Bill passing 15 cars after starting 23rd. He passed seven cars on July 2nd at the Red River Co-Op Speedway, five at the Devils Lake Speedway on July 18th, and eight more on August 1st at the Jamestown Speedway. Bill has lead 57 feature laps so far, and in the races that Bill has finished, he has passed a total of 54 cars. Bill is ninth in the NLRA season long point standings, and is ranked 16th in the Wissota national point standings.

Bill has two wins, twelve top fives, and 18 top tens in 24 nights of racing this season. This week starts on Thursday night with a return to the Red River Co-Op Speedway in Winnipeg for the first time since July 27th, and continues on Friday night with the Wissota Race of Champions qualifier at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks.
