Bill Mooney Racing Recap – Huge Setback

Hoping to bounce back from a tough night in Jamestown, Bill Mooney, driver of the No. 2 Weed Man Millar Powered MasterSbilt, suffered another setback, as the team returned home early on Saturday with a totaled race car.

Around two inches of rain pushed the event back to the eight o’clock hour, as the track was, once again, heavy and fast, but thankfully not as difficult as it was one week prior. Bill was part of another epic battle with Dustin Strand for second, with the latter getting the edge at the finish. Bill’s third place finish in the heat put him in the NLRA redraw, where he redrew for the ninth spot in the main event.

Bill had made it past Brandon Fuller and then NLRA series point leader Zach Naastad in the first half of the feature when disaster struck. Bill was running a solid seventh with seven to go, when a lapped car spun on the backstretch, collecting Strand, eventual WoO Sprint winner Donny Schatz, and then Bill, with the 2 car getting the worst of it. The car is a total loss.

Saturday night Bill was scheduled to race again with the Northern Late Model Racing Association at the Greenbush Race Park, but that went by the wayside with no car to race.

2016 Stat Attack:
Bill had one win, three podiums, five top fives, and six top tens in nine nights of racing with the old car this season.

What’s on Tap:
After losing the car on Friday night, Bill Mooney Racing will be away from the track for a couple of weeks, as a new car is on order and being built. Stay tuned to Billmooneyracing.com and Bill Mooney Racing on Facebook for updates.
