Bill Mooney Racing Recap: Red River Co-Op Opener, River Cities

After a week off due to wash outs at his home tracks, two more races were on schedule last week for the Bill Mooney Racing team including the season opener at the Red River co-op Speedway in Winnipeg. Bill drew the second spot for his heat race and finished second after a torrid battle with Paul Veert. Bill drew the fourth starting spot and finish fourth in the main event. Bill got the better of Veert early in the feature, moving up to third. Steffen Snare then challenged Bill for third, taking the spot a few laps later. Bill was by himself for the remainder of the event on the dry and one laned oval, collecting his second top five of the season.

During the week off Bill Mooney Racing acquired a new sponsor. The Pizza Ranch in Grand Forks add their name to our list of partners, appearing on the right rear quarter panel on the 2 car. On Friday at the River Cities Speedway Grand Forks, Bill drew the seventh spot in his heat race and finished sixth. Bill started eleventh and moved into the top 10 early in the race, but mechanical issues forced him into the infield on lap two, his first second DNF of the season.

Bill has two top fives and three top tens in six nights of racing this year. Bill is once again scheduled to run four races in four nights this week starting Thursday the Red River Co-op Speedway in Winnipeg continuing Friday at the River cities Speedway in Grand Forks then the NLRA series continues Saturday at the Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, MN and on Sunday at the Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon, MN.
