Bill Mooney Racing Recap: River Cities and Viking Speedway

Three races in three nights including the NLRA Memorial Day doubleheader at the Viking Speedway in Alexandria, MN. After the opener at the Red River co-op Speedway in Winnipeg was cancelled, the weekend started at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND. Bill drew the second spot for his heat race and took the lead from Dusty Peterson early, collecting a heat race victory. The win would give Bill the fourth starting spot in the main event. Bill slipped back to sixth early in the main event, but charged back to fifth by lap twelve of the feature. Bill passed Zach Naastad and Steve Anderson on lap thirteen to move to third and set his sights on Mike Balcaen for second. Balcaen lost a motor soon after, moving Bill up to the second spot. Bill finished second to Brad Seng, for his second top ten of the season.

Next up was night one at the Viking Speedway. Bill drew the pole in started on the front of his heat race. Bill held off Brad Seng to win the heat race. Bill drew the third spot during the redraw and started third in the main event. Bill finished 15th in the main event. On night two Bill drew the ninth spot in his heat race, and was only able up make it to the eighth spot, buring him deep in the feature. He started the feature in the 21st spot and finished the night in 19th.

Bill now has one top five and two top tens in four nights of racing so far this season. Bill is scheduled to race twice this week, including the opener at the Red River Co-op Speedway in Winnipeg and Friday at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks.
