Bill Mooney Racing Recap: Season Opener At River Cities

After a long off season, made longer by nearly a month of rain outs and cancellations, the season finally got underway last Friday night May the 16th at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND. Bill drew the 6th spot for his heat race but cold weather and rain earlier in the week, along with a late thaw caused conditions to be rough and hammer-down. Bill was only able to pass one car to finish 5th. Conditions didn’t improve much as the night progressed as Bill started tenth and finished ninth in the main event after breaking the rear axle early on the rough racing surface. Of the 16 cars in attendance, Bill was one of ten cars that was unable to complete the feature.

Bill is scheduled to run races in 4 nights this week starting Thursday the Red River Co-op Speedway in Winnipeg continuing Friday at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks. Then on Saturday and Sunday the NLRA season is scheduled to begin at with the Memorial Day doubleheader the Viking Speedway in Alexandria MN.
