Bill Mooney, driver of the No. 2 Lucas Oil Millar powered MasterSbilt by JMR, bounced back from a blown tire on Thursday to score two more top tens during the three race NLRA swing last week.

Bill started the week last Thursday night at the Red River Co-op Speedway in Winnipeg, where he finished third in a stacked heat race which included Dustin Strand and Mike Balcaen.

Bill redrew the ninth spot for the main event, and had made his way up to sixth with five laps remaining. It was then that Bill started to really come on, as he went high on Balcaen and early leader Kevin Sexton, going three-wide down the backstretch, and into turns three and four.

Balcaen took the high line off of four, so Bill tucked down low in one and two on the next round. It was then when the left rear tire on the 2 car exploded, sending Bill into the infield as a DNF.

Bill traveled south the next day to make his return to the River Cities Speedway, where Bill started and finished fourth in his heat race. Bill moved up to the tenth starting spot in the main event after Strand had to scratch.

Bill had made his way up to fifth with a handful of laps remaining, when he and the trio of drivers he was racing with caught up to lapped traffic.

The traffic was running Bill’s line causing him to lose a few spots in the last five laps of the green-white-checkered affair. Bill crossed the line in the eighth spot.

On Saturday night at the Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, ND, Bill and Kevin Robertson shared the front row in their heat race. Bill won the heat, making the redraw with the other three heat winners.

Bill re-drew the four, and started outside the second row in the main event. Bill didn’t get a very good start, and fell all the way back to eleventh, but in true Bill Mooney fashion, started climbing his way back forward in the second half of the race.

Bill made his way by the likes of Ryan Corbett, Shane Edginton, and Cole Schill, to record a sixth place run.

Stat Attack:

Bill has two podiums, six top fives, and 13 top tens, in 15 nights of racing this season.

What’s Ahead:

Bill will start the week at the River Cities Speedway on Friday, before returning to the Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, MN, with the NLRA, where he rolled last month, but fought back to a sixth place finish, winning the hard charger award.
