Four Races in Four Nights Ahead For Bill Mooney Racing

After some bad luck, and another top five, Bill Mooney, driver of the No. 2 Millar Powered Rocket, looks forward to four straight nights of racing this week.

First on Thursday night, Bill was racing at the Red River Co-Op Speedway’s 40th anniversary race. After finishing second in his heat race, he would start third in the main event. Unfortunately Bill would pull off the race track on lap seven with fuel system problems, for only his second DNF of the 2013 season.

Friday night at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, the fuel system problem continued during hot laps, but Bill found, and rectified the issue, so he could finish second in the heat after starting sixth. Bill started seventh in the feature, and once again persevered with a late charge to the front. After running eighth for the first eight laps, he slipped back to ninth on lap nine, and lap 12. Bill would begin he charge on lap thirteen passing Mike Balcaen. On lap fourteen he would pass James SanGrait.

Bill restarted on the inside row of a double file restart, and escape from a near disaster as the cars in front of him stacked up and crashed on the front stretch. Steve Anderson, and Troy Schill became the next to fall to Bill after the restart on lap fifteen. He remained in the fourth spot for the last five laps, securing his eighth top five of the 2013 season.

Bill now has eight top fives, and 14 top tens this year. He sits sixth in points at RRCS, and is currently in the fifth spot in the NLRA series standings. Bill also remains 4th in points at the River Cities Speedway.

One of the busiest weeks of the season lies ahead for Bill as he will in competition for four straight nights the week.
